D'Addarios from the factory?

So I finally decided to change out the factory strings on my 2550e with a nice new set of D'Addarios. Well what do you know, it already had D'Addario's from the factory!! Funny, once the first string came off and I saw the colored ball end I was like Hmmmmm. Well as each string came out, it became very clear that these were indeed D'Addario's.

So, is this the string of choice for Ibanez on the Prestige models? I was honestly expecting some cheapos, but that wasn't the case.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

I think most Ibanez guitars come with D'Addarios on them.

Yep, D'Addarios are factory...at least they were on my '05 RG1527, and my '08 RG2550Z. I think both of mine came with a D'Addario hang-tag when they were new.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

D'Addario has been the OEM supplier to Ibanez since 2004.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

I'm pretty new to playing/owning Ibanez guitars, so these things are all new to me. Nothing came with my guitar saying it had D'Addario's so I just assumed they were the typical cheap strings. Nice surprise though.

Do the cheaper RG's come standard with them as well?

My understand is all Ibanez come standard with Ds.

Rich would know for sure as I don't really deal with the non MIJ stuff.

The way I understand it is everything comes with D'Addario's, not matter how cheap or expensive.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

I always wonder if the Da'ddarios that come in the guitars sound the same like D'addarios from the package..I guess I have to wait until I buy a new guitar and find out if this D's are the same quality.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

They're the same string.

Whom would D'Addario win over cheap crappy strings?

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

Since the very first thing in the chain-of-tone are the strings (aside from your fingers ) it makes sense that Ibanez would use them on everything - if only to have some level of consistency across all lines. They would be engineering the overall guitar for tone, the next step being the wood (neck, body, etc), I think. I'd imagine Ibanez would still want to have thei Indos sound fairly decent in comparison to the rest of their lines. Having D'Adarios on the nice guitars and cheapos on the budget guitars would only make the designers' or engineers' jobs harder, it seems.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

I thought D'Addario were cheap strings... I use them, partly because they are cheap - but also because I like them, of course.

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

Well, they're cheap in the sense that they don't cost $20 like Elixirs, but they're not cheap in the sense that they are a quality Made in the USA string that plenty of players love.

Personally I hate them with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns (I'm a DR guy) but they are a quality string for sure!

Re: D'Addarios from the factory?

How convenient! I was going to buy strings last night and decided against it because I wondered what my RG1550pbl was strung with from the factory...I've always played Ernie Ball strings, but I have come to love the strings on my 1550 Now I can replace them with the appropriate set!

Cheers!
