Dear Metal Scene - Am I missing something here?

So out of interest, the other day I was browsing around looking at guitars, when I stumbled upon this:

http://www.steinberger.com/ST2FPA.html

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, metalheads, but does the spec of this particular guitar not seem like its a metalheads wet dream?

1 - 650 english pounds. Pretty cheap.
2 - Fixed bridge - For the brootalz
3 - Piezo pickups - For the mellow before the brootalz
4 - 28.5/8ths scale length - For the chuggachugga meshuggahshuggah
5 - EMG 81/85 Set - For the brootalz
6 - Active electronics - For the searing rip your face off lead tone
7 - Composite fretboard - Never wears out, smooth to play, snappy and bright like maple
8 - Maple thruneck - ****ing through neck.

Why the **** am I not seeing EVERY metal band *EVER* playing these things?

Because it looks lame. It looks like something a jazz student plays on a busy corner street. Not because he needs money, but because he thinks he's giving back to community by sharing his culture and BARRFFFFF.

Needs more spikey stuff. Death Metal is 20% musical talent and 80% face paint and pointy guitars

Not every metal guitarist likes active pickups, not every metal guitarist likes piezo, not every guitarist likes a baritone scale length...

At least in my case, the ONLY thing that I really like about that guitar is the composite fretboard, otherwise, pass.

BTW, I use an RG & telecaster for my 6 string metal.

However, the majority of metal guitarists do like those things. Hence the growing variety of guitars with some varation of the features listed. This thread isn't about just you, you know.

You probably don't see anyone playing those things because they look like an oar for a tin boat, and the headless design is the worst idea ever. Not being able to just walk into a store and buy strings when I need them would be a huge no vote for buying a guitar, I don't care if it sounded like an angel's orgasm.

I dated a girl named angel and her orgasms definitely sounded metal.
She definitely hit the high notes.

I never said it was about me, just that being a "metal musician' I don't automatically want any baritone guitar with actives and a fixed bridge, nevertheless a small bodied, headless model.

I was also correcting you on your "metalheads wet dream" comment about this guitar.

Most of the "metalheads" (local and pro) tend to go for active pickups and floating tremolos, but no "one single guitar" exists for all tastes, this guitar is nice, but the whole "I want to see every X genre musician use this guitar because it has specs you NEED"

But then again, why pass up an opportunity like this

Re: Dear Metal Scene - Am I missing something here?

I think few really want a small bodied guitar. Just looks silly on some people.

Because modern metal has moved on?

No 8 string option
No Schaller-Hannes bridge
No BKPs
No exotic and previously unheard of tonewoods
No boutique label
No famous, yet suitably underground, endorsers

Although my fix of metal comes from the internet these days, this seems a fair way away from what is creating an online buzz, and isn't something you'll see in too many UK stores...

Don't think I'd ever want half a guitar.

When I see one of those tiny guitars I think of the last scene in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and laugh.
