Designing your own Custom guitar

I've done this before, but I'll do it again (it's probably changed a bit). *I think I'd actually have 2.
  • 7-string:
  • RG-shape
  • AANJ
  • Carved Quilted Maple Top (Les Paul-ish)
  • Lo-Pro-7
  • 24-fret maple neck
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • Hum-Single-Hum config. *(not sure of the pickups yet)
  • 3 way toggle switch (for neck-both-bridge)
  • 2X coil taps (for neck: neck side/both, for bridge: bridge side/both)
  • On/off for middle pickup.
  • 2 vol, 2 tone (one for bridge, one for neck)
  • Kill switch
  • Gold Hardware
  • Transparent Black Finish (Maybe Transparent Black/Dark Red/Dark Blue swirl)
  • 6-string:
  • RG-shape
  • AANJCarved Quilted Maple Top (Les Paul-ish)
  • Transperformance Bridge (Self-Tuning)24-fret maple neck
  • Rosewood fretboard
  • Hum-Single-Hum config. *(not sure of the pickups yet)
  • 3 way toggle switch (for neck-both-bridge)
  • 2X coil taps (for neck: neck side/both, for bridge: bridge side/both)
  • On/off for middle pickup.
  • 2 vol, 2 tone (1 for each pickup)
  • Kill switch
  • Gold Hardware
  • Transparent Black Finish (Maybe Transparent Black/Dark Red/Dark Blue swirl)

Yes, it's the same as the 7-string except with a Transperformance bridge, I know.

Anywho, they're complicated, but I think they'd be cool.

Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

Mine would be pretty simple too.

RG Body shape
Fixed bridge only
Flat matte black colour
Single EMG81 in the bridge
Sperzel locking tuners
Maple board (ebony on another)
24 frets
Single volume knob
Cosmo hardware

Keep it simple and sweet. Something good for both normal and down-tunings. No trems to worry about, simple controls, not much can go wrong.

Just above the input jack I would love to have a "bottle opener" That would be sweet!

Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

Have Rich (from Ibanez Rules!) send an RG1570L body to ATD for a swirl, drop in a set of Breeds, and put it all back together with his inspection/setup and that'd be good enough for me.
