Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

My dream guitar:
*Body, 1-piece Alder. Shape, same as Jason Becker´s Peavey
*Neck, 1-piece Maple. Numeric inlays (again same as Becker´s),
Wizard radius, 24 frets and "70´s Strat" large headstock
*Pups S-S-S, Dimarzio HS-3 (body mounted)
*Jack, Pick up selector and Vol. same as PGM
*Stainless Steel frets
*Hardtail (PGM style)

This has been a dream guitar of mine for some time but the dream came true in Jan this year!
A swedish luthier made it for me and I couldn´t be happier.

That sounds like an interesting design. Do you have any pictures of it?

hey everybody, plain and simple, I could go on and on about what I could dream up in a guitar, but in the end, just give me that 3-neck beauty Steve play's at the beginning of his set on G3-Live in Denver and I would probaly die of thirst or something from not being able to peel the damn off of me! I mean really, how much fun would it be to play THAT instrument! fret.

Well, she should be way under construction by now but my luthier seems to lack the knowledge to send me some pics of the progress. Anyway she should be ready by Augaust more or less. I just can't wait!!

Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

Mine will (hopefully) be a reality in a few years or less.

My RAT 97 UVBK with:
* an Ameri-JEM type swirl of red, white and blue
* red, white and blue pyramids
* something cool done to the headstock
* "Liberty" plaque in 24th fret
* Buzz Feiten mod (since I'm going all out here)
* new chrome bridge
* Tremel-no installed

The only way to improve it would be to install a Double-Edge dual-purpose piezo/MIDI output, which doesn't exist.

The paintjob alone will cost more than I paid for the axe. Man, that's going to be a lot of dough spent. I could likely get a mint UV777BK on **** instead. Oh well.

Neck; 24 fret maple w/ rosewood board, full abolone inlay,21-24 scalloped, medium jumbo frets.
Bridge; Edge-pro w/ locking studs.
Hardware; Full chrome (inc trem arm).
Pickguard; Perloid
Potentiometer knobs; White
Selector switch cap; White.
Pickups; Dimarzio Evolutions (White).
Pickup switching; Standard 5-way selector.
Volume pot(s); 1 master volume pot, push/pull acting as bridge pickup toggle.
Tone pot(s); 1 master tone pot, push/pull acting as capacitor selector for the Evolutions.
Extras; Tremol-no, Universe Eye of God bodyinlay in abolone.

Hmm... I think that's it.

Talking Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

I'd want to have both 7 and 6 string version

7 string version:

Les Paul body style
chambered with F-holes
tune-O-matic and stop bar with RMC or Ghost synth/piezo saddles
EMG 707 [neck] & '81 [bridge - 7 string version]
neck thru
7 string sustainer
mahogany/maple top [doesn't have to be figured]
3-4 head stock
ebony fretboard - off set dot inlays
22 jumbo frets
26 inch scale
locking tuners
tuned standard
__________

6 string:

les paul body style
chambered with f holes
2 EMG '89's push/pull pots + phase splitter switch
Alder body, maple top
Kahler trem
GK pick-up
Fernandes sustainer
neck thru
ebony fretboard - off set dot inlays
22 jumbo frets
locking tuners
tuned [lo - hi] C-G-D-A-E-G]

Re: Designing your own Custom guitar - What would you have?

i fell in love with a custom shop Charvel at winter NAMM. i will build one similar to the one i played using Warmoth parts, but with a few twists:
solid koa strat style body routed for two hums and a floyd
birds eye maple neck, ebony fretboard w/ stars inlayed in pearl
reverse strat style headstock w/ wizard profile on neck w/ 24 frets
original floyd, one volume and one tone knob
3-way LP style switch
either a JB/'59 or Pearly Gates/Jazz pup sets
haven't decided on hardware color, but possibly black
i'm guessing i will come in under $1000 for the project including a nice case which is less than half of what the Charvel was ($2300)
i wish i knew who took that Charvel home - she was AWESOME! (drool)

here's a pic of the one i played at NAMM last Jan. i would like a reverse Strat style headstock instead of the pointy and different inlay - pearl/abalone blocks or stars maybe.
