Difference between RG920QM (US) and RG870QMZ (CAD)?
I noticed that a few guitar stores here are carrying what I thought was an RG920 premium until I grabbed it and looked at the pricetag and headstock. They are labelled as RG870, and sure enough the Canadian Ibanez website lists these, but no sign of the 920.
On side by side comparison of specs on paper, the only difference I can discern is this:
RG920= H-H, Dimarzio IBZ pickups
RG870= H-S-H, CAP-VM pickups
The other thing that surprised me is the Canadian pricing on the RG870 seems to be relatively in line with the US pricing on the RG920. Normally the Canadian market gets the shaft, with retail prices easily 20-30% higher despite a dollar on par with the US.
Does the difference in pickups explain how the Canadian model can be priced the same, meaning we're still kinda getting screwed. OR, did Ibanez actually cut us a rare break in this instance?
Last question, is the RG1XXV 25th anni model up to the same "Premium" quality as the RG920 (and 870, assuming it's the same)?
