Difference playing with/without fretboard inlays?

I'm still thinking of getting an SZ520QM as a 2nd guitar (fixed bridge, etc.) to compliment my RG20th. Among my searching though I've come across quite a few pre-07 models which don't have the inlays all up and down the fretboard, only a design at the 12th fret.

My question is, how much harder is it to play a guitar without inlays? (particularly for a beginner who's still learning) I know there are still the little dots on the side of the neck typically, but I'm still used to relying on the inlays somewhat to know my place on the neck.

Thanks.

It might take some time to get used to but it should not be too difficult!

The SZ inlays are awful looking. My other guitarist just got the SZ320EX in white with the small abalone dot inlay and it looks phenominal; I am really surprised.

Which ones don't you like? I've seen two versions. It may have been 2005 and earlier that had none (except at the 12th). And 2006 and 2007 520QMs have different inlays. I think in 2006 it was little flames or something (smaller version of the big thing at the 12th) and in 2007 it looks more like crowns.

The ones with the tribal looking flames. I have no problems with the other ones other than those honestly. I just really loathe tribal anything.

So, so with you there!

I bought a Parker Fly a few years ago - plain, jet black fingerboard, no inlays - adjustment time to lack of position markers - zero.

In fact I just finished a Strat with a non-inlay fingerboard - I actually find the position markers an annoying distraction after playing the Parker for a few years. When I think about it, I find most guitars annoying after playing the Parker.......
