Smile DiMarzio pickups

Hi everybody, I'm a new member here. I've been playing Ibanez'es on and off for about 17 years. I just bought a 570 with a RW fingerboard and I'm mulling over pickup ideas. Maybe a PAF Pro in the neck, and either a Fred, or Double Whammy bridge. Anyone ever use a Double Whammy on an RG? Just curious. Not sure what to try. I have a 550 20th with PAF Pro and Super Distortion, so I'm looking for something a little different, maybe medium output. I want something with punch, sustain with a singing kind of tone, great harmonics, good clarity, and good low end (not too much) for rythmn. I thought about Bill Lawrence's, EVO's, and Breed's but I'm not sure. I know they are higher output than the Fred, too. I want it to be a tone monster. Any suggestions to help me decide are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Thumbs up Re: DiMarzio pickups

Hey Mark,

I'm new here to, but you might think about a matched set of Tone Zones. My bud has a set of these in his PGM, and they really sound good. I also like the Fred, as it has some nice sustain and really nice harmonics.

try an Evo 2/Evolution Neck set, it's just great! and has every thing you want: "punch, sustain with a singing kind of tone, great harmonics, good clarity, and good low end (not too much) for rythmn"

Re: DiMarzio pickups

As much as I would love to Sell my PAF Pro/Fred set that I have up on the forum for sale thread.
I have to say Evo2/Evo neck does everything I need; Anything Raunchier and I'd go Norton Bridge

Re: DiMarzio pickups

Welcome to the forum.

Air Zone would be a good pickup for what you described.

Re: DiMarzio pickups

My jem has Breeds and I like them a lot. Not as hot as my former EMG81, but more b*lls and less nazal than a fred which laked output for nice palm mutes etc. It has the bad horsie flavor on board, so if you like that... I just got my hands on a used tone zone but still need to mount it in my RGR570. so I'm curious to hear the difference with the stock Ibanez V8 and the Breeds.

Re: DiMarzio pickups

I'd go with either a Tone Zone/PAF Combo or a Breed Bridge/Breed Neck combo.

Re: DiMarzio pickups

Breeds have a lot of mids. For medium output, I love the Air Norton in the bridge and either Air Classic, Virtual PAF or Humbucker from Hell in the neck.
