Do I have an RG750 or RG550?

Recently picked up another "vintage" RG. Quite curious as to what exactly it may be. Made in Fujigen in 1990, it's an RG with a maple fretboard with center black dots, pickguard, Edge, and IBZ/USA F series pickups. At first I thought it was an RG750 with a maple fretboard, but I haven't found any catalog scans from 1990 or 1991 that list a maple version of the RG750. Upon tearing it apart for some cleaning and restoration, I looked at the stamps in the neck pocket. They both say RG-550.

I know all the Wizard necks from that era were badged RG-550 M, but did the 550 and 750 share the same body stamp as well?

So I either have a rare RG750 with a maple fretboard, or an RG550 with F series pickups. Seems kind of odd that someone would change out a 550's pickups for F series, rather than DiMarzio's or whathaveyou. Likewise, it would be equally as odd for someone to have swapped out the neck with a 550.

I know that the 5XX and 7XX were made side by side, using the same woods, so I know I have the same quality either way. I'm more after satisfying my curiosity.

... i'd opt for the latter; perhaps the previous owner had a 750/770 with upgraded pups and decided to install the F's in the 550, the F's ARE a bit better than the V's
Neck stamps from 550's would either be RG-550R (Rosewood) or RG-550M (maple) to designate which neck/board combo would go on that body... not quite sure if 7xx's of that same year would bear that stamp though!
also, what does the neck plate say? 550's usually just have the Ibanez logo and Made in Japan whereas the 7xx's would have a neck plate that says Bensalem, PA...
my '89 760 has that weird stamp in the neck pocket (something with a WARG24 something-something) but I would assume RG7xx's from the same era would be similar.

There are alot of "mutts" out there, and don't forget that IBZUSA's are Dimarzios. 550 without a doubt. 750 R or M neck would have Sharkfins.

Oops, forgot to mention that I am quite well versed in RG's, especially the 90's models, as I have been playing them for 11 years. And I'm well aware of the secret weapon that the F series pickups are.

Judas:
Neckplate! Excellent thinking. This particular one only says Ibanez and Made In Japan, whereas my 91 760 has the Bensalem address. I assume your 89 has the Bensalem version?

DJR:
I have yet to see a 750 with a maple board. The maples with sharks were the 770DX's.

I did find another thread that says all necks from that era have a 550M stamp, and that the bodies were all made together, therefore meaning that bodies that shared the same routing would have the same stamp. The 750's would have the 550 stamp, the 760 would have the 560 stamp, and the 770 would have a 570 stamp. The only difference's were pickups and cosmetics. Quality was equal.

It's looking more likely that this was a 550 with F series pickups.

And the proverbial nail in the coffin is that the 7XX's in 1990 came with cosmo black hardware, while the 5XX's came with black black. My guitar is black black. So it's a 550 with F series pickups.

I've seen guys do the "hand me down" on pickups though, they'll buy "name" pickups for their fave axe and put the pickups from that into their backup.

thus the 7XX series got DiMarzios or EMGs or whatever and the 550 got the leftovers
