Hey guys.. I have had an RG8470AVV for about a month and i notice a lot of tiny or long surface scratches ( like swirls and pick scratches ) on front and back when i see it really closely under light.. Are they removable? Am i doing something wrong? im not wearing any jewellery in order to harm the guitar .. please help me .. i m really depressed.. honestly

Thanks

Re: Do light Scratches Devalue the Guitar?

Might be able to buff them out, but guitars are meant to be played and playing guitars results in at least minor wear and tear. Nothing to get upset about.

A MINT guitar is always going to be more valuable than a scratched up guitar to some degree but again, guitars are meant to be played (IMHO).

Best you can do is wipe it down after playing it and keep it in the case when not in use.

I used to get upset out crap like that but I learned that it's useless. Unless I store my prized guitar in a glass case and put it on permanent display then it's going to get scratched up and possibly dinged at some point. If you really love the guitar then play it and do your best to keep it looking good. Let the chips fall where they may. Even if a miss-thrown drumstick took a bite out of your guitar it would still be a great guitar.

Light scratches are bound to happen on a guitar. Even with store bought ones unless you got it ordered it and you were the only person to ever crack open the box. I wouldn't sweat too much over light scratches (even on J-Customs)
