Do these frets look low/badly crowned?

There's a listing for an six70 on the bay, so I messaged the seller and asked for pictures of the frets. To me, some of these frets look low and/or improperly crowned. (The action also looks high, so it makes me skeptical about non-level frets) What do you guys think?

Re: Do these frets look low/badly crowned?

The action is high, but it's hard to tell from those pictures what the frets are like. In the first one the frets are out of focus. In the second one they're hidden by the strings. I'd ask for a picture at 45 degrees, looking down through the strings, focused on the frets. Also, it would be better to take a picture at a different place on the neck. In my experience the 3rd and 15th frets usually show the most wear.

I've been running into a lot of problems on the bay lately with sellers who take lousy out-of-focus or blurry pictures. If a guitar is selling for $500 or $1000 is it too much ask to expect clear and sharp pictures?

The frets definitely look low to me. One reason why the action is high is because the tremolo cannot go down much more without hindering the swing. One of my RG's has really low frets and I have to keep an action at least 1.6mm to have enough space for the tremolo.

No trem on this one. I actually found a sweet deal on another one with frets that look like it has never been played. Paid $350 for it, it was the starting bid and it had an awful title so no one saw the listing or bid .

Frets are too low, what's a deal breaker for me, since I like huge gigantic frets (altough frets can be replaced). And the action is so high I can park my car between the strings and the fretboard. But if the deal is good and the guitar is worth (i.e. you're GASing for it), these can be fixed.

The frets may not be too low, but I do agree that they need to be crowned correctly. Try rounding them out for a real crown.

Re: Do these frets look low/badly crowned?

From what I have seen in all but the least expensive Ibanezes, is that those frets look low in the pictures. They actually look a lot like many of the Gibson frets I have had on many instruments.

It's not that low frets are bad and can be just fine on a jazz guitar or modest lead guitar work, but it's so not the shredder Ibanez frets I am used to seeing which are sometimes even too big for my comfort level and usually keep my fingers completely off the fretboard mimicking scalloped frets and making the playing feel consistent among all fretboard woods which are in that case merely there to hold the frets but never come in contact with fingers. Check out how HUGE these RG frets are!
