Do you think the last set of 25th RG's will be Indo or MIJ?

Or should I say, "Don't you wish they would be MIJ?"

IMO, Ibanez has been cutting corner with these guitar made in Indo, and China. Not as good as the MIJ of old day.

I tried out an RG3XXV yesterday at GC. I actually thought it was a pretty nice guitar for the price. I would just like to see something a little more higher end for the last set.

It better be. Three indo's to celebrate 25 years of mostly Japanese guitars? They better have a big finish!

I bet they won't do any MIJ guitars.
RGs were never considered high end guitars back in the day, just mid line.

Yep, and if you look at Ibanez's website the RG Prestige line is very slim...
My guess is you will see alot more Prem's......

Re: Do you think the last set of 25th RG's will be Indo or MIJ?

I had a look at a pink 25th RG with the matching inlays the other day and the finish was terrible. There were thin spots in the paint where it looked like it wasn't put on evenly and there were what looked like dust spots under the clear coat.

The guitar played ok but just didn't feel solid under my hands. Colour me unimpressed.

I'd love to see some MIJ love from Ibanez, but it seems they want to move more and more into the Premium lines and the MIC stuff, so i'm not gonna hold my breath.

Rock on!

^ I saw the same finish issues on the same model, particularly around the trem recess, output jack and neck ferrules, the white base was visible in those spots. Looked like a quick pass with a spray gun before slapping it together.

I'm reminded of Glen's long-stickied rant about the demise of the 2027. I fear the Prestige line will go the same direction, but due to misinformation and false expectations from the Premium line. I can't help it, but every time I see "Premium," I think "Charvette." The Premiums/Indos are decent guitars for the $$, but they're not worth losing non-sgnature MIJ Prestige production over.

I have played a couple of these Premiums now and they most certainly do not have the solid feel of a Prestige. I liken it to how a Squier Classic Vibe feels after playing an American. Good guitars but not as solid.

I'm kinda' confused by the whole situation. I missed the release of the 20th Anniversary RG550s. Did they not do well? Hard to imagine.

Re: Do you think the last set of 25th RG's will be Indo or MIJ?

I was under the impression that they sold pretty quick - at least the DY's and RFR's. The BK's maybe a little slower. But they all sold. Rich?

I don't think the 25ths are Indo because the 20ths didn't do well, I think it's because Ibanez is pushing the hell out of the Indo guitars right now.

Hey, I have nothing but love for the Indo's! A $400 RG350 kicks the piss out of a $400 LTD or Schecter but you get my point.

It's like making an Epiphone to celebrate Gibson's 70th (I have no idea what number will actually be their next big anneversary).

Re: Do you think the last set of 25th RG's will be Indo or MIJ?

The indo's are GREAT guitars!!!!!

I have a Jem 70V and a brand new 820QMZ 7 string.

completely on Par with the Prestige stuff. No issues. I've checked all the fretting with a tool and it's fantastic! To be honest with you, the 7 string it plays far nicer than any Prestige 1570 that I have had in the past. Perhaps I got lucky on this one. I have 2 very nice J Customs and my JemFP2 to compare with. So happy with them. The only bad part about the Canadian version of the 7 string Premium is that they use crappy pickups but that is easily remedied.
