DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THE LTD ED PUZZLE TOP IBANEZ'S WERE MADE???

hey guys...My names Garrett...I'm ralatively new to the Forum...I've been a longtime looker but just never joined till recently. I've got one of those Flame maple/Ovankol puzzle top Ibanez's...I know they were limited Edition but nobody seems to be able to really give a ballpark to how many were made. Do any of you guys know how many of these bad boys were actually produced??? Any additional info greatly appreciated

Wy do you want to know? It was a regular production model AFAIK. If it had been a limited edition model, only a handfull of them would've been made. They also made them in red if I remember correctly.

Maybe Rich will chime in and give you a better answer.

I'm pretty sure they also made one with a natural/dark contrasting stain puzzle top.

Don't quote me on that one though.

edit - They sure did!

There was also an orange one too, but I think it was only released in Japan.

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THE LTD ED PUZZLE TOP IBANEZ'S WERE MADE???

I'm pretty sure there were only two/three RG puzzletops, the light-dark ones are Ovankol+Maple (Rg20063), the orange one is Flame+Quilt (RG20064) which was sold in red in the USA as RG20062. RG20061 is the BBQ ash RGT. So depending on how you count there are two or three different ones.

@Gaztop, that one's ovankol/maple.

They are all mahogany backed, perhaps that's where the confusion comes from.

There is however also an S-series puzzletop S20065

you're right, I only glanced at the pics.

apparently it's an "exotic" maple, with strange lines (spalted?), which I mistakenly took as laser cut or sumfing, like the true puzzletops.

this guitar looks as cool as all hell

not sure about the red one, but this dark / lite puzzle sure will look a little weird in a couple of years - like those polkadot Buddy Guy strats

i would buy the red puzzle though
especially, because my wife loved it too

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THE LTD ED PUZZLE TOP IBANEZ'S WERE MADE???

Well. I guess we'll check back in on this post I started. Seems there's been a lot of talk and no real definitive answers. I am the proud owner of one of the Flame maple/ovankol top puzzles..and I like to keep detailed records for my insurance company. I know that they were Limited..possibley only 2 to each dealer...but besides that no real, actual #'s so far. Well I'll let it ride...you guys talk amongst your selves and maybe somebody will eventually weigh in with some numbers for us...Peace!!! and keep shredding!!!

Hey..that's really funny man...cuz that's exactly how I got mine...I really wanted it..but I actually had the willpower to walk away and wasn't going to buy it and my old lady actually talked me into it...That was the first time that had happened..ever!!...and unfortunately..hasn't happened since

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THE LTD ED PUZZLE TOP IBANEZ'S WERE MADE???

I used to own a red one. Sorry I sold it. I asked the same question a while back when I owned mine and I think the number that was tossed around at that time was 64. Now I can't rember if that was just a US number or a total production number. I believe the 64 is the number imported into the US. I think there were 3 color choices, the 'white/brown' one pictured in this thread, the 'red' I owned, and there was also an 'burnt orangeish' color one which was not aval in the US. I think it was a Euro only color.. Either way it had a very small production run.

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY OF THE LTD ED PUZZLE TOP IBANEZ'S WERE MADE???

I managed to find one of these down in here in Western Australia. It was hanging on the wall at a guitar store underneath a JEM7VWH. This shop has heaps of awesome Ibanez .
