Does anyone know what this is?

I took a risk on the bay with an auction that only had one bad photo of the guitar and picked up the one below. I don't know what model it is. Anyone?

22 frets with wide 12th fret dot spacing
"Roadstar Series" style neck without words on headstock
serial number P706793 'Made in Korea'
Input jack on front of body (no empty hole in the side)
Fulcrum bridge with strings up through the block
Pro(?) paintjob
Narrow spacing between screws on neckplate

The serial number suggests '87 but the paintjob signature seems to say '84.

Very curious.

Re: Does anyone know what this is?

Has Ibanez made guitars in Korea that long ?? I'd have thought an '87 or so would be MIJ...

<sniff> I'm going home!

The neck is what I was hoping for actually. It feels very good enough to keep. I have to plug the existing neck screw holes and drill the four others though. Ugh.

Well.. I really like that finish! Anyway, that trem is a powerrocker II, and that together with the locking nut assembly and the body shape would make it a RG240. But the control layout and output jack placement puzzles me a bit, it should have 3 mini toggles and a regular side-mounted jack.
It's hard to read the date on the signature - could the finish even be original? I know they had a graphics thing like that going on with the 540pro.

Re: Does anyone know what this is?

Cool design, but some of the old cheap Ibanezes have terrible (looking) tremeloes, and I hate the whole nut plus locking nut thing.

Re: Does anyone know what this is?

looks like an RG240:

i've got a couple those but with side-mounted jack plate instead of top-mounted. the trem's a Powerocker DX (not to be confused with the standard Powerocker), TopLok II, a Super70 hum and 2 Super7F single coils on basswood body. i think the paint job is dated '89. looks great, very early '80s style. just put a nice set of DiMarzios and you're set.

I believe that's it. Thanks. The neck on this one I have is different than the one from that catalog shot though. The base paint under the funky finish seems to be the red of the catalog shot. It's visible in some chips.

I cleaned and oiled the neck up. It's the feel I'm after. But like said above, that locknut behind a regular nut doesn't work for me. I'll be passing this one on I think. Fun experiment anyway.
