DOJ raids Gibson factory

Good to know all real crimes have been solved. That leaves the Department of Justice to focus on crap like this. Oh wait...

Liberals crack me up. The irony of this story is most musicians are liberal. They vote for the turds that write and pass these laws.

Just heard about this ridiculousness about 25 mins ago. In all sincerity, this LOOKS like simply another move by this administration to move all US production to other countries. Namely, China. This pissed me off to no end...and Im not even a Gibson fan!

Re: DOJ raids Gibson factory

Understood. I will in the future. Let me know if this is too far, but I WOULD like to see proof of the allegations. Otherwise, this is a huge disruption in production that will undoubtedly affect musicians. In the article it states how a man asked how to go about the correct paperwork for moving his pianos. This lead the government to send a dozen agents after him? I understand that this would technically be considered smuggling (if it's ivory or endangered woods). But it's kind of preposterous to think that someone with an instrument that's over 30 years old or even more can have their instrument simply taken away from them forever and never have a chance to get it back. To hear that makes me very sad.

I for one applaud the Gov. for doing something about one of the biggest offenders and most despicable companies in the music industry. I hope they get shut down. The bastards.

Re: DOJ raids Gibson factory

I think its ridiculous and intrusive. Like counterfeit instruments, IMO the best law enforcement comes at the earliest stages of production. If Gibson bought restricted wood that's one thing, but more emphasis should be placed on getting the people that sell them the wood. Asking the consumer to police the industry is just ridiculous. In a globalized economy how to you verify the source of EVERY single part used on your instrument?!?

Easy, you just act in responsible way. Taylor is leading the charge for sustainable harvesting of tonewood species.

If this keeps happening to Gibson they're gonna have to put in a separate break room marked "Feds Only"

I just hope Henry J gets the boot soon so they can get back to being a respectable company with a quality product. Not the abomination they have become.
