Dollar for dollar, is there a superstrat out there as good as RG?

This may not be the place to ask, but I know there are other good superstrats out there in budget, midrange, and higher end markets.

Back in the 1980s when the superstrats were out there there was Kramer, Ibanez, and Charvel/Jackson as the trusty variants, but this era has too many choices to ponder.

I may want either a locking trem or fixed bridge superstrat again one day for NGD, and look at both budget and midrange stuff (up to Ibanez Premium price range).

Thoughts?

Thanks for the replies.

Charvel seems to have the vote. I had both a Charvel Model 2 and a Charvel Surfcaster acoustic and they were both really good guitars.

It's a moot point but I will also suggest Charvel....OR you can always make your own, they are really easy to put together the way you want.

This is my partscaster Super Strat, making this was almost as fun as playing it!

Definitely, I'm building my own too at the moment. That is a gorgeous one you have there, did you do the finish yourself?

Yes, it was the first time I had ever attempted something like this. However, this was a bare kit, meaning all the wood work was done. I learned so much about beginning guitar building from this. I need to find a high speed buffer to get some more shine out of that clear but I'm kinda proud of this guitar. Post some pics of your project!

There's a thread in the tech section for it.

What did you use for the finish though?

It was just some Minwax stain, I don't remember the exact name but I can find out if you'd like to know. Clearcoated it with a high gloss polyurethane clear. It's FAR from perfect but I love it.

Peavey put out some high quality made in the USA stuff for next to nothing, also Yamaha (Pacifica line especially).
