Douglas SR-370

Hello,

I've been looking around for a seven string guitar and anymore it seems we have limited choices especially from Ibanez.

I found this guitar on the bay that is distributed by Rondo Music. The guitar is only around $190 but I have seen good comments on these. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this guitar. Here is a link to one of them... http://www.rondomusic.com/sr370bk.html

Thanks.

Re: Douglas SR-370

Pretty good review. My experience with Rondo has been this:

SX - very inexpensive. They also sound and feel inexpensive, although I did score a gem of a Tele clone for $99.

Douglas - slightly better than SX

Agile - Comparable to and in many cases better than MIM Fenders.

For $190 it is hard to go wrong, although my experience with Rondo's licensed Floyds hasn't been very good. In fact the only licensed Floyds that haven't given me trouble are Ibby's and Peavey's.

Re: Douglas SR-370

I have a Licensed Floyd on my MIM Strat and it seems to hold up pretty nicely. At first it was too stiff for me but I added a 4th spring in it and now it simply rocks.

I thought about getting this guitar and upgraded the pickups and maybe the trem later.

With licensed ones I've had nightmares like cracked saddles, stripped arm inserts, stripped locking nuts, almost impossible to intone, strings hang up, etc. I just assume that if it isn't an Ibby (or a Peavey Predator) I am going to have to throw in a real Floyd to have any stability. Haven't tried one of Fenders - been boycotting Fender since Schultz fired my dad and the rest of the management back in the early 80's The guy died three years ago so maybe it's time to move on.
