Re: DP756

The closest I see are the DP755 Tone Zone 7 and the DP759 PAF 7.

Sure it's not one of those?

Re: DP756

Hmmm... usually you can Google "Dimarzio DPxxx" and the name will come up, but Google gave me no matches.

I thought I had a lead seeing that DP155 is the TZ6 and DP755 is the TZ7, but as it turns out, it doesn't follow the whole line... DP159 is the EVO (759 is the PAF-7) and DP156 is the Humbucker from Hell, but there's no 7-string version of that IIRC.

Re: DP756

theres a photo of the back. The guitar also came with DP704 (Evolution) which has a sticker detailing the model number on it but this pickup just has some sort of engravement. as you can see form the photo.

any ideas?

Re: DP756

I just double-checked Dimarzio.com's FAQ, where they have a *complete* list of all the pickups they ever made..... and no DP756.

Does the pickup at least sound good?

It's really weird. My TZ and AN didn't have this plastic on the back side. Their back is metal. I can't think of anything. I would e-mail dimarzio if I were you.
I'm wondering if this could it be a dimarzio/ibanez pickup, but I really don't have a clue.
Good luck

dimarzio changed the construction of their 7 string pickups around 2000. going from metal baseplates to fiberboard baseplates. this was confirmed with a telephone conversation i had with their tech support. noting the pickup's pole pieces in your photo, i would venture to say that it is one of 3 pickups: tone zone, air norton or paf. i would say that its more than likely a tone zone. i have pulled new 7's out of 4 guitars and 3 of which were metal bases and one was fiberboard. all of the new dimarzios i have put in were fiberboard. if it sounds good, rock it. if not, drop a blaze custom in it and fall in love.

Re: DP756

i would guess at its the bridge version of the tonezone 7, or maby the ibz/dimarzio 7 string pickup
Edit: It is cause if you read the patent number off the blue sticker and read the patent number for the tonezone its the same

Re: DP756

i contacted dimarzio and the guy was convinced its a TZ7. Suppose i'll just have to take his word for it.
