Early 90's Trem anchors

Hi, was curious if anyone had any info on early ibanez trem anchors used in the RG series guitars. I just picked up what I beleived to be a rg550 body. front rout, HSH layout, edge trem rout is accurate too. What's bugging me is the trem anchors don't have bottoms to them and the posts that came in it are the non-locking variety. Was wondering if Ibanez had a habit of doing this early on? Paint looks to be factory finished so I don't think they are 3rd party replacements.

Re: Early 90's Trem anchors

My first thought is that it's a post-2003 guitar, but I assume you've dated it via the serial number... You can also probably find out the model for sure by looking through the Ibanez catalog scans at ibanezrules.com.

Are you sure it's an Edge, and not an Edge Pro? If so, are you sure the anchors weren't replaced AND it was repainted (unlikely, but possible)?

Re: Early 90's Trem anchors

old style heel joint, definitely an older model. I matched the rout measurements to one of my rg570's.
this thing is so old that the stamp in the neck pocket has faded away.

Re: Early 90's Trem anchors

I used to have a old Power model that was Edge equipped, and it had non locking trem posts. Why I don't know, but maybe Ibanez just hadn't realized early on that the posts were a problem.

I guess I'm wondering now if I can get away with doing a version of the edge pro mod. (cut off a portion of the old stud to use as a bottom for the anchor)

Don't know about that one, but if it were me I'd just buy a set of locking studs from Rich
