Cool edge III nemesis

breaking the crust...just bought a rg470na...i know all of you die hard mij guys are chuckling, but lets be real...this is a great axe for the $...played schecters, esp, jacksons, fenders(yuk, another story) in this $ range, some even more,...first of all the body is ash, which looks and sounds cool. my other rg is basswood, strat is alder, i think(who cares)...now, my point...whats up w/the edge III...other than maybe 4 some inferior studs, it seems fine...i've read guys saying their bar died...how? does it just fall apart? doubt it...nothing wrong w/this bar...there are better ones, but by what degree. p'ups r ok, aftermarkets always make a difference, but thats all personal taste. neck rocks, not a wizard, but didn't pay for one either. One quick note, a LOT of the used mij's out there are well used and need a lot of attention, so if you get a nice one cheap, good for you !!! rock on !!!
anyhow, the best tones come from our fingers and picks, so everyone play what u like and rock on...

Re: edge III nemesis

Glad you went with the 470NA! It'll still be a killer axe!

Re: edge III nemesis

Well, the bar will get wobbly, but it's easy enough to tighten it up that I don't see any reason to complain about it.

If you abuse the ever loving **** out of your whammy like I do, the knife edges will wear out pretty quickly. Of course, quickly is a relative term. The knife edges on my Xiphos (which I sold recently... ) showed a noticable but not huge amount of wear after 3 years of term abuse. This annoys some people.

And then there are all the subjective things like Feel, and whatnot. No right or wrong there. I'm sure there are also other things I'm missing. But it's a huge step up from the Edge Pro 2 in my opinion.

Talking Re: edge III nemesis

You guys rock...nice to see i'm not alone in appreciating the simple look and feel of good wood (wow, can that be taken the wrong way !!!)
Meaning, the light finish on this axe lets it really ring...the tone is "sassy", kinda brassy and has that dimarzio "aw vowel thing" going on...simply put, lead tones ring and sustain is impressive. Like I said, i couldn't take my eyes off it...will be posting more pics soon...as far as the edge III goes, all i can say is so far so good...
keep ya posted...rock on !!!

Re: edge III nemesis

I have an MIJ 470 with the Lo-Trs that hasn't been abused and a cheap 370 with an Edge III that sees gratuitous abuse and it took about a year and a half for the Edge III to really start seeing slack and really only took about 15 minutes of tightening back down and adjusting to get it back up to par....Once you get tired of the stock pickup sound, some fresh Dimarzio's will perk it right up too!

Re: edge III nemesis

Lovely! Yeah the edge III really isn't bad. Just like the other guys said, the bar will get a little wobbly after some time. Now slap some DiMarzios in there!

Oh, and is it a Wizard II neck on there? I really didn't like the II at first but I've really come around to it. It's perfect for me.
