Edge Studs higher on one side then the other

I've just acquired a 1991 squared heal RG550 and in the process of refinishing. I realized after disassembling the guitar, the Studs on the high E side is slightly higher (abour 1 mm) and not sitting straight in. Will that affect my set up next time?

Re: Edge Studs higher on one side then the other

the edge studs have a locking screw that locks the stud in place. the locking screw is tiny and is IN the stud itself. you will need a smaller allen wrench to un loosen the adjusting screw that is located within the stud. so that you can lower the stud further.

Also, things to double check..

1. examine the neck and pocket joint. see if there are any debris that prevents the neck to sit correctly and level in the neck pocket.

2. probably when you reassembled the whammy system, you switched the two studs around.

3. there is probably dust and debris in the stud insert that prevents it from being lowered futher.

Sorry, my bad. I meant the stud inserts. The high e string side is higher than the other side.
