edge2 trem issues

OK so I have an rg320dxqm it had a Chinese tremolo on it and I found out it is supposed to have edge 2 trem so I bought one used and the high and low e strings don't line up on the neck one almost off the neck while the other is to far on the frets.

THIS^^^^

The year of your guitar is important here. There were three different trems use on the 320dxqm:

Lo-TRS II
Edge-Pro II
Edge III

You don't have an Edge 2. The Edge 2 only ever came out on one guitar in the late 80's....... a Vinnie Moore signature (VM1)

Re: edge2 trem issues

You don't need pics of the trem to align the strings on the neck, since one has zero to do with the other

I think he has a stud spacing issue.

Although I didn't even think about a neck alignment problem.

Occam's razor. What's the simplest and most common problem?

Re: edge2 trem issues

If both the hi and lo E strings are nearly off the neck, could the problem not be the trem, but the nut?

I do know, that Jackson made a huge **** up with Adrian Smith SDX (the Indian made one), they installed an R3 nut, which gave a string spacing that was to wide, and the hi and lo E strings were very close to the neck edge, and at times, certainly around the 5th to 9th frets, "fell of the neck".
Over at JCF, many people say they have installed and R2, and solved the issue.
Maybe the trem isn't the only thing that has been changed. Is the nut correct. Reverting back to a Edge Pro II wouldn't solve the issue if the nut was wrong.

That's just string alignment. If the trem is causing it I'm not sure how, and would need pics, but sounds more like the neck is out of line and needs to be shifted. Loosen the screws, muscle it over - without trying to break the guitar, and tighten the screws.

Re: edge2 trem issues

I assume that's a bolt on neck.
Just loosen the bolts enough that you can get to neck to wobble in the pocket when you push/pull on it. (Loosen the strings first, of course) then simply push the neck towards the high e-side (If you're holding the guitar in playing position; push down) then tighten the bolts and check the alignment.
It's not hard. Just don't go nuts pushing on the neck.
I had to do the same thing when I repaired my RG550.
Only on mine; the high E string was just about hanging off the board at around the 18th fret. :/

Their isn't any room to move the neck
