i'm a huge fan of dragonforce, but with all do respect this doesn't deserve to cost more than a jem...don't get me wrong it's a nice guitar herman..lol

The E-Gen use Mahogany which is more expensive than Alder and Basswood.
All the wiring on the E-Gen also require much more work, and don't forget the nice flame maple top ;-)

Yes, it is an awesome guitar, you did a good job. I saw one at NAMM when they first came out and have been talking about it ever since. Most of this whining (mine anyway) has more to do with the shrinking dollar value compared to the Yen, and our crappy economy. I will find a way to get one eventually, I'm just complaining right now because a serious case of GAS like this is no fun with empty pockets... E-Gen #1 on my want list almost 2 years now.

Egen 18 is a good guitar. There are no disadvantages when you get it. Sounds great, looks great, thin body and yeah, badass sixtring. I just gotta say, hats off Ibanez.
