EMG's in a SA 160QM

anyone had any experience with emg's in an S series guitar?
i am seriously thinking about going with an 85 in the bridge and two SA's in middle and neck. i got a Tone Zone in the bridge right now and stock singles and the Tone Zone sounds really thin for rhythm. looking for something to beef up the tone. i would like to put an 85 in cuz the 81s i hear are really harsh in ibanez guitars. i play alot of clean stuff as well as some really heavy 80's type rifs.

Nevermind, the output jack isn't compatable and there is no room for the battery. i put the emgs into my strat. couldn't get a refund. unless anyone want's to buy a hot rodded squire strat with emg's. $250 firm. that just pays for the pickups and pickguard alone.

I put EMGs into my Jem and my RG7620s using the stock output jacks on those and I would think you could sqeeze a 9 volt batt into the control cavity. Although I haven't had a whole lot of experiance with S series guitars.

I agree, as far as going through the pickupwiring cavities you may need to drill the holes a little bigger. The newer rgs, come with input jacks that actually have the extra wiring capability for active pickups. Im assuming this was related to piezos or vai needin this type of input jack for his sustainer guitars. Something along those lines anyways. Most people used to just redrill and put in another input jack. DONT DO THAT. it looks like crap. THe input jack is my favorite thing about my rgs. I never have to rewire them. Ive never seen a strat or regular guitar jack that I really like

The S and SA guitars are a little different, because of the way the jack is recessed into the top. Their cavities are REALLY small... they look bigger because of the size of the cover plate, but a lot of space is taken up by the output jack arrangement.

darren is right. as i was working on all of this, my dad got in a drilling mood and tried to afro rig everything in. well the drill slipped a few times but fortunately didn't cause any major damage. so i put all the emgs in my squire strat. im glad i didn't keep them in my SA160 cuz to my ears, emgs are muddy crap. they were way too hot to get any good tone from them. i should have gone with Lawrence Pickups. anyone want to buy a strat w/ emg's. selling for $250 cuz thats the price of the pickups and pickguard alone. well, would be willing to sell the pickguard separate...
