Ya. im saying "screw it" to the Gibson es 335. im a jazz student, still learning. How about this guitar? The sound sucks though, so im going to change the pickups. I want a Metheny/ Motgomery sound. Should i go with Seymour Duncan? What does Metheny use on that Ibanez? thanks

Yes, Matheney uses the stock Ibanez 58 pups.

I would also recommend the SD Seth Lovers...

Good luck!

With a hollowbody jazz guitar, the pickups will not change the sound like it will on a solidbody. When you deal with acoustic or semi-hollow body guitars the wood is going to have more effect becasue that is what is creating the tone. Just my 2 cents.

Really, the Sheraton and ES-335 don't qualify as "hollow-bodied" guitars. *They're SEMI-hollow. *They have hollow wings, and a solid maple block in the center. *They have more in common with a solid body like a Les Paul than they do with a true hollow-body like a Gibson L-5 or a Gretsch 6120. *A comparable Gibson would be an ES-330, but those come stock wtih P-90's, so you won't get the fat tone of the humbuckers. *
