It's quite interesting that the KH-2 still is a neck-thru guitar over there but in the rest of the world it's been downgraded to bolt-on.

The Japanese market is more willing to buy ESP type guitars as well as crazy shapes. *Also, US trademarks don't apply over there, at least I think, so they are able to pretty much build whatever they want. *Some of the guitars are just awesome. *

I wouldn't consider a bolt on a downgrade. It's just a different way of building guitars.

If your neck snaps on a neck thru, I bet you'd think a bolt on would then be an upgrade

You should have seen some of the custom models that they flew over for the NAMM Show. *Insanely detailed wood carvings and extremely exotic designs. *Wierd stuff! *One of the guys at the ESP booth was saying that there they guys who design and create some of the "art" guitars for them go to school specifically to learn how to do so. *It's truly an art!

the KH-2 is available in neck thru here too, its just that since bolt on is cheaper, and people who are foolish enough to buy a KH2 only because its hammetts signature guitar they dont care if its bolt on neck thru, set neck or one peice, dealers here will sell the hammett either way so they might as well sell the bolt on for the same price since people who buy them dont care for the difference between neck thru or bolt on , getting the neck thru will probbaly add another $500 more for people who want it, then they could just get a jackson custom shop with the same specs for the same money.

anyway, i think ESP is definitely the most creative and best of the high profile companies (like ibanez, fender, bc rich, jackson.........)
