Exactly What Position Should The RGA's Bridge Be Tilted?
Hello, all. I have an RGA121 with it's sweet Gibraltar Plus bridge and when I changed the strings on it for the first time I notice that it rocks slightly when there's no tension (when the strings are attached). When you put the strings on it's slightly forward - by that I mean tilting more flatly down as opposed to tilting back making the saddles higher.
The slight difference in the position I know doesn't do anything to the action or playability but could it potentially lessen sustain? I'm thinking if the saddles were pushing higher on the strings there would be more pressure on the string's sitting point and maybe vibrate better, because as it is you can lift the string off the saddle pretty easily - unlike a tune-o-matic bridge were there's so much string pressure on the saddle that it's pretty damn hard to lift.
Question comes down to: Does it matter how the bridge is sitting/how much string pressure is on the saddle. And if so how can I get the bridge to stay tilted up?
