An extremely 80s version of a JPM90th

I had a very conservative RG3120/JPM custom made hybrid. I bought it that way, but felt the colour was boring and dull. I have a bunch of very classy looking arched tops so I was looking for something striking.

I also have a few 80s guitars like a Donnie and Zakk Wylde Rebek replicas and a sparkle 7 string petrucci. This will be among that line of guitars.

I wanted to do an "extreme" variation on the JPM90th or RG art theme. So I had it refinished on a petrucci pattern in red/blue/yellow

The guitar will probably feature yellow pick ups and knobs. But I welcome suggestions!

I also considered an orange/green pattern with red eyes and black/yellow patter, also with red eyes.

In the end I opted for the blue/red pattern with yellow eyes.

Here is a preview:

Hope you like it.

Very nice! How did you do the pattern on the top? I've been wondering how it could be done for a long time!

I dunno, personally I don't think the colors blend very well. Maybe if the blue was a lot darker and the red was deeper...

Red and blue...an under appreciated color combo. I like it. Yellow goes good with either color. Looks great!

Re: An extremely 80s version of a JPM90th

I didnt paint it myself. I order it from the same guys that made me the "perfect radius", the Les Paul Rebel replica, the Donnie Hunt and the JPM7 among others.

The other 2 alternatives I considered for the pups are: black or red/blue (followong the guitar colour pattern). The knobs are definately going to be yellow though.

Thanks for the compliments!

Re: An extremely 80s version of a JPM90th

Here are a few VERY rudimentary mockups to see the different colour options for the pups and knobs. Id like to here some opinions cause this is still to be decided.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

blue/red neck, yellow/blue bridge with red/yellow/blue knobs.

it would tie the whole color scheme in and still be loud and proud!

It's looking good, man! Although I like the last image (with black pups), I think it would look great with blue pups and knobs.

Cheers!
