Well don't we learn something new everyday. That would surely mean P1 production #'s just went up in my eyes. And why *B*, it was the *first* color scheme?! It was never even in the US catalog, and I've still never run across one that didn't have a 95' or very early 96' serial #.

I wouldn't doubt that, they started re-importing them in the US in 99'. Always assumed to be re-issues, it now looks more plausible they never stopped production. Paul will find this pretty interesting news.

that's why i've long wondered why B for Europe and P1 for USA, but well...
My serial number is F9714243, and I swear the neck is from origin. A friend of mine has also got a 1997 B and a 1998 P2, so that's why I never understand why you seem to find P1's (or B) so rare, because in France there are "lots" of !

I've never found P1's to be rarer than any other, just an abundance of P2's. IMO the P4's are the scarcest.

We never had more than 1 model in the catalog at a time.

96' - P2
97' - P3
98' - P4
99' - P4
00' Gone

While you post a catalog shot I assume I wouldn't doubt it, the more that is learned the more we realize Ibanez' buisness practice is all about filling orders. If France wanted P1's in 97' all they had to do was order 70 units minimum.

BTW, I'm CONSTANTLY learning, nobody can know everything for sure, but this is a new twist on me, and AFAIK the only existence of new P1's after 96'.

If more of you Frenchies hung out here we'd have known this long ago  I fail to be surprised by much anymore.

look at this

1997 French catalog

as you can see, the JPM100 and the JPM100B are considered different models, as the JEM 7 D and the JEM 7 V for example.

The JPM 100 has got two finishes : P2 and P3 while the JPM 100 B doesn't give any choice : it's what you call P1 in the USA.
