Keith, in Malta about $800

The Japan issue P1 (B) had the same colored pickups as the 90th.

Is this a fair asking price for a JPM100-P1???

Hey guys...I was the one who originally started this post....I decided I am going to go ahead and get this JPM100 P1. I was wondering if anyone could help with deciphering the serial #. It's F 522556.....I know that "F" designates it was made in Japan....the first digit, 5, means it's a '95, right? Anyone know what the rest of the numerals signify??

Whoa, I'm being quoted here? *I'll have to watch what I say.

Ok, after looking at that catalog pic, I'm curious. *It appears that you could have ordered the JPM P1, P2, or P3 with "Norton Lite" neck pickups. *I've always thought Norton Lite was a pickup exclusive to P1s, but this confuses me. *Is Norton Lite the exact same pickup as Air Norton and was it just named differently in European catalogs? *I don't have the American catalogs so I really don't know about here.

hehe, maybe I should warn you when I do that!

Since it didn't make the US catalog debut till 96' it just says Air Norton. Air is pretty light, maybe it means the same thing in Europe?

As far as I know the Air Norton and Norton Lite are the same pickup. The FGM200 and 300 came with Fred Lite and PAF Pro lite in the 95 catalogue. In the blurb there it says "These pickups are low magnetic field humbuckers for minimum string pull and warbling" which is what the airbucker technology is supposed to do if I recall correctly.

I don't have a 96 UK catalogue so can't verify if it lists the JPM P1 as having Norton Lite or Air Norton pickups. But the 97 catalogue with the JPM P3 does list it as a Norton Lite. With subsequent catalogues having the neck pickup listed as an Air Norton.

I guess someone will have to pull apart a series of JPMs to make sure

Is this a fair asking price for a JPM100-P1???

about the pickups...
in Europe, in the '97 catalog, the JPM 100 B, the JPM 100 P2 and the JPM 100 P3 were all available, and listed to have a Norton Lite as bridge pickup.
In the '98 catalog, the JPM 100 P2 , P3 and P4 were available, but listed with the Air Norton pickup.
In '99, the P2 and P4 were available, once again with the Air norton.
As far as I know (i asked someone at DiMarzio), these are the same pickups which changed names during 1997.
Anyway, my JPM 100 B has got a "Norton Lite", and the JPM 100 P4 '99 a friend of mine has, has got EXACTLY the same sound that mine, although its pickup is named "Air Norton"

Hey Paul, I also am a fanatic of the JPM series, and my life job is Webmaster... wouldn't you need some help for your site? I' like to !!! *

I know I know, I also run a company in France which is equivalent to his.
I was just speaking of an help about how the JPM has lived in France and Europe, because obviously he lacks lots of information about the JPM outside the USA, which I know a lot !!!
