Question favorite hardtail bridge?

tune-o-matic or flat-mount (strat-style)?

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

Is one style better for palm muting? I have not played with a TOM guitar long enough to get used to it, but it seemed it would take some getting used to with the extra height.

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

I find the strat style better for palm-muting because I do alot of double-picking. I try to keep my forearm parallel with the face of the guitar because with TOM's and one-piece wrap-arounds, I find myself bending my wrist outward a little, causing fatigue. One cheap-o guitar I found is the best- it's "Switch" brand and the body is this weird material (Vibracell), sculpted with a hump on the left side of the body that is flush with the bridge, so it's perfect for muting.

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

I'm going to make a flat-top solid-body guitar, and was thinking about going with the Hipshot hardtail bridge. It's similar to the strat-style but beefier looking.

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

Definitely Strat style. Don't like TOM at all.

I'm also building a guitar with a Hipshot hardtail. It's an ungraded strat bridge.

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

Strat style,,, HIPSHOT looks super sweet. I'm entertaining swapping one of my 1527's for a hard tail,,,and the hipshot,,,well that would clinch the deal

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

Thats tough. I like the looks of a tune-o-matic. I'd have to go with a strat style though.

Re: favorite hardtail bridge?

I'd go with a tune-o-matic with the strings through the body.
