Re: fender deluxe trem question

High E strings are prone to breaking anyway. I would say first to file the saddle a bit. You can actually use an old wound string for it. It may do better after you debur it. Another option would be either roller saddles or graphite saddles. But i would start with a debur and go from there. Joshua

Re: fender deluxe trem question

You can use an old D string to do that, or just buy some 2000 grit sandpaper.

Also, check into nut lubes like NutSauce or GraphitAll. Both can be found for sale with a Google search. De-burr then lube each time you change strings.

I use the Graphtech saddles on all my non-locking trems and they have proven to be excellent at stopping string breakage. The best sounding ones, IMHO, are the Graphtech FerraGlides.

Good luck!

Re: fender deluxe trem question

actually i just found out that you can use a piece of thin plastic or some material to put between the e and the saddle so that the string doesnt break when i use the trem a lot.

Re: fender deluxe trem question

Yup, that's what Stevie Ray Vaughn's tech, Rene' Martinez used to do, for him. You might want to also dress the hole where the string comes up through, in the trem plate, as well. Essentially, you want to eliminate any sharp angles and pinch points, prior to the breaking point of the string on the bridge. Hope this helps.

Re: fender deluxe trem question

The FerraGlides from Graphtech will permanenty fix your problem with no need to file and deburr, or use tone killing plastic on your bridge.
