so after watching this guitar being adv for like 2 months... I finally decided to pull the trigger, especially when the price was dropped for like 279.. So i don't see why not.
yesterday, it was arrived.
open the box and checked, this guitar is in almost mint condition, except for tiny paint crack in the neck pocket below the neck pickup ring. These cracks most likely happened during the shipment.
besides than that, it was OK.
so reached home, clean it up a little bit, re-string it with d'addario 09-42 in E standard tune, setting up the tremolo angle and pickup heights.
what the first thing I noticed was the neck. it's as thick as fender strat neck. no kidding.
fretboard radius is the same with ibanez , probably 430mm.
fret job is ok, no sharp edges.
when tuning and re-string it, the hardware ( trem and tuners) are good, easy to work with..of course.. they are gotoh.
another thing that surprised me is the weight of this guitar, even they mention in the spec it's basswood, but weight nothing like basswood, more like mahogany.
neck width is 43mm(nut) and 56mm(24th).
I didn't measure the neck thickness, but when you think ESP M-II neck is thick..this is way more than that.
pickups as mention in the spec is " Japan high output".
At first I thought it was maxon made similar to Ibanez V6F pickups . but when playing it, I highly doubt it.
this 'japan high output' is piece of crap.
no definition, no character, lack of sustain, and definitely nowhere near as 'high output'.
I'd guess.. they won't stay long in this guitar, I still have some dimarzios laying around, soon gonna be there.
I don't have issue with the playability even it has baseball bat neck, this guitar has potential.
play it unplug I can hear it rings nicely.
I don't know how much it cost brand new, but for 279.. it worth.
the only thing I don't like is the red color, tempted with idea to strip it down to bare woods finish and put some zebra dmarzios in it.
