Fireman 2.0

Well. i just never was happy with the clear coat on my Fireman build and it was eating away at me...since im loving the satin finish on my Loomis and my preference for flat finishes i decided to give the Fireman a sinister makeover....
so here she is before (with a tone zone B and paf 36th anniv N)

and then a little sanding and primer then some Rustoleum flat black from the old can...

has some zebras so now its an air zone in the bridge and a humbucker from hell in the neck!! switched the knobs to black ones and viola!!!!! I think it looks 10000x better, and the headstock matches too...just gotta wire in the pu's and slap on some strings!!

Re: Fireman 2.0

I still liked it the old way better........But this DOES look great!!!

Now you need to put some white binding on the body to match the neck and pups.

whoa....binding is a little too much work for me lol....i was going to spray it flat granite and then tape off a small binding border and then do black but as usual i was in a ruch to get it done and decided to go all black which i still dig alot

Re: Fireman 2.0

I dig it as well - honestly think it's probably the best looking Fireman I've seen. Would love to see the pinstripe "binding" attempt.

Re: Fireman 2.0

I am a fan of the flat/matte finishes, just not black. Any other color really starts to show where you touch it and play it and black just doesn't do it. That being said it does look nice. I can see why you did it.

Re: Fireman 2.0

if yall notice one pickup is black and white the other cream and white but i think it adds to the rat rod/frankenstien look..i dig the difference...this guitar had so much mojo before so im hoping it gets even better....this guitar had so much going against it from jump street....poplar body (which everyone bashes for tonality)...indo neck that had to be redrilled, with a floyd nut on a hardtail body, ferrule problems...put together by a rookie builder like me, but when this thing was done the first time the guys at my local shop could not believe how good it looked/felt/ and sounded....i hope that it sounds even better with a little more knocking around its had....ive bought and sold a ton of guitars but this one is special...cant see me ever getting rid of this one....its like my version of Eddies Frankenstien.
