Fireman project results...

Okay so its finally all put together and here are the specs..
Poplar body with Sapele veneer,
Black stained back and sides, black over the top, then sanded, then bright red transtint,
Matching truss rod and cavity cover veneers.
Gotoh tuners and bridge,
1997 RG450 neck,
GFS zebra pickups(I'm a GFS freak!),1 volume, 1 tone and 3 way switch, vintage strat knobs
straplocks ( I put the bottom one around the front instead of the way they have them on the actual model)
I want to get black screws for the pickup rings and switch, I only had regular ones on hand. Pics ended up in reverse order

I concur that a binding would be sweet on it. Good job man.

Solid 'A' man. How much did you sand after applying black stain to the top prior to the red transtint, and what brand of stain? btw, I'm dimarzios biggest fan, how do the GFS hold up next to the PAF pros in your PGM?

I used transtint for everything. I have another thread of just the body where you can see it sanded after the black("Fireman project from the new guy").The black really soaked in so it was a pretty good sanding. As far as GFS, my fave pickup ever is an old Dimarzio Super Distortion from the early 80's that I have in another guitar. I feel like GFS crunchy PATs are the closest to that sound as I've heard. I've tried lots their pickups and have been happy every time. definitely worth a look.

Me too, but this one isn't purple--it's a dark red over black. Anyway--BEAUTIFUL job!

thanks AB..the transtint was "bright red" and I wasn't sure how "bright" it was gonna be. anything darker might have been too dark.
