First Thread / First builds

Well if you folks didn't catch my introductory post I'll do it again. Kind of new to the world of parts and pieces of guitars, however we have a common friend here who has been instrumental in my latest obsession. The building of guitars as a new hobby.
So here are the two that are currently rolling and will take some time. One is ready for routing and the gathering of instrumental goodies, the other just barely what’s left of a tree, yep, it is in the drying stages. The Walnut one (This post) looked the same awhile back, in rough sizing stage.
Garrett

Hmm no pic's......

Once you have 10 posts, you can put the pics right in the threads.

Re: First Thread / First builds

It's solid Dark American Walnut, I am going to go from behind to mount as much of everything I can to keep the grain fully exposed as much as possible.
One or two more posts and I can link the PB albums for it and another build.
Thanks thou..

Re: First Thread / First builds

Here are a few where it is down to finished size and ready for router work.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/...thier-/011.jpg

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/...ier-/013-1.jpg

The wood was finished down too a 2000 grit and then about 6 coats of True Oil in between sanding's varying from a 1000 to 2000 grit. I have yet to polish it, that will have to wait until the router work is complete.

I forgot to post up the core shots of the Burl Cherry, this is going to be one bad ass guitar when she's done!
