Fixed Bridge Guitar

Hey guys, I have been thinking about getting a fixed bridge guitar to experiment with tunings (and use tunings like paul gilbert's E E E A D E tuning). Any suggestions for a cheap fixed bridge guitar? I was thinking maybe a korean RG. I like the RGR421EXFM but its around 500 bucks and I would possibly want a cheaper guitar. I posted in the other Ibanez Guitars section but please tell me about other brands you think. Also, how do these non-prestige fixed bridge Rg's play?

One word for ya dude: Agile. Or actually, maybe two words to add to that: Michael Kelly. 2-400 bucks will get ya a sweet axe.

You can't get much cheaper than an RG321. Around $225-$250 --Jason

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

I'd go for one of these flamed beauties if i were looking for an RG/soloist style on a budget. Ebony board, Grover tuners, 24 frets, nice top, 299. Cant beat it.

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

damn that is pretty nice, and it seems tough enough to meet up to my weird tuning needs (well wants lol), What is the website to buy Agile at again? Also can you guys describe the action/feel on the Agile and the Ibanez. or any other guitars you come up with

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

Well, action is really adjustable. Any guitar requires a setup when it arrives. Do a google search for Rondo Music and you'll find their site (dunno if we're allowed to post links here, dont wanna anger the admins lol)

You can also get them on the bay, although the website accepts payment by paypal too. They have the BEST customer service of ANY company i have ever dealt with, guitar or otherwise. I've had 4 guitars from Agile, and they were fantastic instruments. I liked my mid-cost RG also, but it never felt very solid to me.

but will it be able to even hold a tune, my friend had a cheap dean like that and he couldnt even tune it to standard tuning without the strings breaking. so he threw it away basically

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

Deans are very good guitars..but not the 79 dollar ones. The 4-500 dollar ones are pretty solid though.

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

Nothing a set of schaller locking tuners wouldn't fix...

not bad,
but with the tuners that would be almost 200 bucks so wouldn't the cheap ibanez be better. Especially since it has 24 frets which is something I try to stick with and probably a more thin and more quick neck.

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

My point is that if tuning stability becomes an issue, you could always replace the tuners or return the guitar if it wasn't to your liking

ah, I see. Just the problem I was talking about seemed to be bridge related, less tuner related but I'm sure they would help. I will try and go play a few of these guitars next time I manage to drive the 30 minutes to my guitar center I wish I could just buy a Paul Gilbert and be over with it haha. I will try and find an agile, Ibanez, dean or even maybe a carvin with a hardtail on the bay. I will scout a good price there to hopefully save even more moola. (btw have you guys seen those "Flame" Guitars on the bay that are all chibanezs)

Re: Fixed Bridge Guitar

If you can pick up a PRS SE for around $500 (dunno how much they go for over there!), then I'd definately try one out Great guitars.
