Is a fixed EDGE III bridge worth anything?

Looking at this used MTM2. Very sleek, simple down to earth guitar. And my weakness for reversed headstocks.

Don't care for a floating trem on this kind of guitar, so was wondering if the fixed variant of the not so fantastic floating Edge III (correct me if I'm wrong) is decent for what it is supposed to do. Or is the Edge FX - Edge FX III the same Edge - Edge III quality difference we're speaking of?

thx.

Considering I just learned about that bridge yesterday, I'm also curious what people will say.

The Edge-FX (Fixed Lo-Pro) kills it.

But the Edge III-FX is pretty good as well.

If I were you, I'd try and find a used MTM1. They came in black for a year or two if you don't like the red. You're getting much more guitar for your money.

I still want the White MTM. I have never played one myself but I'm sure the bridge is fine. My problems with the EDGE 3 we cosmetic really. I hated the bar. I hated that they were finished cheaply. The one I had always stayed in tune though.

Is it possible to change an Edge III with an FX Edge III bridge?

Possible, yes. But practical, no. You'd need to fill in a large part of the cavity. The FX mounts like the tailpiece on a Les Paul.

Re: Is a fixed EDGE III bridge worth anything

Edge 3 wasn't the best of trems but I've never had trouble with mine in the 10 years or so I've had one. I think a lot of the crap people give them is most likely that they didn't know what they were doing and then the materials could have been a little tougher(read as forgiving to those who don't know how tight to lock a string/saddle down)
The fx is the same bridge just anchors instead of knife edges.(I have an rg2228 as well)
If you don't like floaters just block it off and your done.
