Fresh off the bench

This was finished yesterday. The only thing left to do is to get some better photos and spend some time playing it. I'll probably try recording it this afternoon, so there should be some sound to go with the photo in a few hours.

With a batch of 6 strings in the works, this will be the last 7 string we'll be building for a little while. It feels good to have it done.

Funny, but when we first finished the paint job on the body, I didn't think I was going to like it as much as the sunbursts, but now that it's assembled and everything is seen in context, it's probably my favorite.

The pickups are Dimarzios with a PAF-7 in the neck and an Air Norton in the bridge.

Here's what the peg head looks like.

Nice tones from that. What amplification are you using? I really love the clean sound of it, wonder how it shreds? *muhahaha*

This was done with a Roland Cube 30, their new modelling amp, using the Jazz Chorus model. I absolutely love this amp. I'm now gigging with it full time and next week I'm going to use it to record my next CD.

As for shredding...I was curious as well and since shredding is not part of my repertoire, I took one of my guitars up to Seattle where a fairly well know shredder cut these.

ahh, you should try it, it's fun.

That opening chord has a pretty unique sound to it- heavy, yet "woody" with this really unique low-end rumble to it. I'd be curious to hear that in the context of a modern-metal-esq riff and groove. Cool stuff, wish i had the cash, lol

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I've been out of town for a bit.

This is currently running humbuckers only. I'm trying to give us a chance to get the first few instruments as stable as possible. After I'm really comfortable with the progress we're making, then I'll start installing the more complex electronics. But all of the guitars we're building are setup for piezos. The bridge is milled with extra holes fo the wires coming off the saddles and there's a channel under the bridge for the wiring to run through into the control cavity.
