Fret wire quality...

Is the fret wire quality is the same on any Ibanez or it's better on higher end guitars like the RG Prestige or J Custom?

Re: Fret wire quality...

I asked Mak about that once and I think I remember him saying they sent the same fretwire to Korea they used in Japan. Who knows about everything else. I'm sure when you get into some of these $300 guitars they have to use the cheapest stuff available.

Re: Fret wire quality...

I have no "has asked anyone" facts to give.
The normal view at it is that all frets are the same (unless stainless steel).
But have for sure noticed that the frets on cheap models wear out much faster.

I do often bring cheap models with me out on the road just to give them a “road try” and they are, even if not used close to as much as my “real” guitars, a lot more worn down. I, for example, did bring a S260 with me on a 100 gig trip in France and used it about 20-30 minutes a day (most days) and it was worn down when I came home. The frets were bad, the tuners were bad and so on.
My “real” guitars have very little fret wear during a trip like that, even if played 2-3 times more.

A cheap guitar gets worn out and die, a expensive (most of the times) just gets better the more you play it.

Not all of them have been like that.
