Re: GAK.co.uk

Is there a decent RG retailer for the U.S.? Or are we Yanks stuck with huge shipping costs?

Ok now import duties are around 25% so lets call it £275
i think RGT is saying imports are far cheaper and he's right, for australians, the UK is one of THE most expensive places to buy from
if you are importing, Matt's is good but you can find cheaper. buying a guitar from Japan or China usually works out slightly cheaper
here's a legit chinese online shop price i found- 12000 yuan. it converts to 794 UK pounds with XE, you said 80US for shipping, let's add 80 pounds instead(more expensive and realistic)
=874 pounds

let's then add your 25% which is 218.5

we have a total of about 1092.5 pounds to import a real jem7vwh

£1549 compared to £1092, yes importing is cheaper, it's also more risk and more work/research. it's a tossup

If we are giving out the names of the best Ibanez dealers then you need: www.guitaruk.com

They are also in Portsmouth (as well as Nevada) and are without question the best shop I have ever been into. They carry a load of good stock, and they are really great guys. I only buy gear from them, I do't need/want to go anywhere else.

Re: GAK.co.uk

I've previously bought a POD from GAK cheap and fast free delivery

I almost bought a JEM from them (didn't in the end because I wanted to try it first and they were too far away)

They will haggle a bit if you call them. You shouldn't have any problems with them

Re: GAK.co.uk

I know it´s an old thread but I guess it´s always nece to hear about other peoples experiences......

My advice is that you have to make shure you don´t send them too much money ;o) They don´t accept credit cards and they are not adjusted to international business. I got my guitar, but not very fast and they were not very friendly on the phone afterwards.

They kept 94£ of mine and I´m never gonna see it again ;o(

Re: GAK.co.uk

I always deal with GAK, and will never deal with any others tbh. They are THE best and the cheapest most of the time. Stefan always helps me out when I email/phone them up. Very nice guys there and you always get the best deal. Apart from Machinehead (who are the best for service btw) I wouldnt deal with anyone else. Very cheap and fast delivery, just a great company all-round.

I have head very good things about Merchant City Music in Glasgow. Apparently they are very good also.
And GuitarVillage are brilliant too. Very nice guys that work there.

Regents Guitars is brilliant as well...customer service that's above and beyond what most other shops do, the guys there are great to deal with - http://www.guitars.co.uk/

I mean...who can honestly say that a 24-hour 'Live Help' feature (which, if Rich isn't at his desk, will send a message to his PDA that he keeps with him at all time) is something you'd expect from a shop? It's not, it's better than anywhere else I've ever seen.

Big thumbs up for Regents.

And no, I don't work there, even though this does sound like a shameless plug...
