Gambale Model

About 4 years ago I did a recording project in NY and one of the guys had a DY Gambale model. He only had it the first day I came into the projcet and he sold it that night so I never saw it again.
That was the only time I've seen one. Are they rare? Looked like a RG550 to me. His was signed by Frank on the backplate.

Just wondering....

I though Gambale's are basically an S-series?

I've got a FGM100 DY, its basically a S series body with the pickup mounting rings routed into the body. Mahogany body, a very thin/narrow neck compared to jems; Edge trem. Pickups leave a little to be desired but are useable enough. Mine is also signed by Frank on the coverplate.

It's a keeper :P

I was soooo close to buying one about a year ago, in DY too as well. I played it and I really liked it. DiMarzios would have been nice in it obviously, but thats the same with every guitar really.

I would have bought it too, but the guy was asking way too much for it and I couldnt vouch paying it at the time. I couldnt get him to go down any lower either.

Very nice guitars though, just an S series really. They do crop-up every now and again though.

Hi,
I have an S540LTD which is almost identical to that Gambale model. Here´s some pics:

I had a FGM400BB a couple of months ago and I sold it cuz I'm looking for a seven string. I believe their bodies are sleeker than S series and the frets are not the usual ones. Here's a pic:

I really loved that axe and I've never seen other ones for sale anywhere. I've seen some of the previous models but not many. I don't know about the model you are talking about but if you happen to find a 400 like mine or the other model (which is even prettier with a quilted maple top!) don't let it go away.

BTW Mine had a Paf Pro at the bridge and she realy screamed like a monster!

Man, even blurry that looks like a sweet guitar. As a proud S-series owner it looks like the body is just about exactly the same as the S.

If it was an actual FGM, then it would have had DiMarzios in it already (unless they had been swapped out). On the original FGM100s, the neck pickup was an IBZ/USA F1, but the bridge should have been a DiMarzio Dual Sound and the middle would have been an HS-3.

The FGMs are nice guitars. The FGM300 was my favorite, although the later FGM400QM was gorgeous. I liked the DiMarzio "lite" pickups that they started using in '94 or so.

I've had both an original FGM100DY and a '95 FGM300MG (my favorite FGM finish.) Great guitars overall, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't make myself like the "S" body style. Just not enough "meat" there!
