Thumbs up Gassing for an SZ!

Went to daddies just for grins yesterday on my way home from getting a replacement stylist for my turntable. I decided to try one of the SZ models cuz I always thought they were cool looking and I hear Marty Friedman is playing them now. I can definetly see why Marty digs this guitar so much!!!! If I hadn't already bought a guitar a couple months ago I would've taken it home! The neck may be a little beefy for some folks who are used to playing jems but I don't play them exclusively so I dug the neck a great deal. The finish was beautiful (amberburst on FMT.) The only thing I didn't like was the volume knob for the bridge pickup is the one second closest to your hand instead of closest. I can understand why they did this but I like doing volume swells and having easy access to my bridge volume knob for dynamic reasons. Other than that it was a really amazing guitar! One of those or a 7-String is definetly my next guitar purchase.

Re: Gassing for an SZ!

I had an SZ and I loved the tone. Notes would swell after I struck them, lots of overtones and it just sounded excellent. but the frets are kind of small and thin. It drove me nuts and I ended up selling it. If she had jumbo frets I would have kept her.

Re: Gassing for an SZ!

I have a 520 and I love it... great sound plays really well, personaly I have a massive hand very wide and thick fingers.... I don't any problems playing. As thick as the neck feels the narrow board makes it pretty comfortable for me. Very happy I bought one.
