Genesis - what is the price point?

looking at the Genesis collection on eBay and they are getting no play at $1200 - $1500

What do you think the price point would be if they were available in the US and how much better is the Genesis than the new RG450M ($399.99) and what are the differences?

Thanks in advance!

I think you're making the wrong comparison there.

Other than the obvious difference in fretboard wood, the better comparison to the Genesis in the north american market would be the current RG655.

The 655 is a much better deal in the US. Check your PM.

I'd totally take the 655 ahead of a genesis (and I've had my hands on Genesis before). 4 words say it all: All Access Neck Joint.

Re: Genesis - what is the price point?

the only problem (at least for me) is color. There is no touching RFR

while I do like the AANJ neck joint on the RG655 I feel a certain nostalgia with the Genesis models. I think its the color

I think you've hit it on the head here. These are classic Ibanez models and finishes (or near approximations). Super-Wizard necks, original Edge bridges, old V1 & V2 pickups, original neck joints, and retro colors.

If I were a wealthy man, I'd already own a Genesis RG550 and RG570 in Violet Chameleon (presumably a tribute to the old Purple Neons that I love so much).

I agree, the GCs have such awesome colors. The Jewel blue was just gorgeous. RFR and VC are amazing also. I already had enough Square heels (my 550 and 560) so I didn't really need ANOTHER one when I kept playing my 2550 over both my golden eras. It also allowed me to pick up my Japan market 685, which I like more than the GCs AND 655s

And on top of that, the maple fretboard, I do not think any RG 655 had any maple fretboard!

The Genesis RG550 have a cool factor that the R655 does not have. (and I am not saying this just because I happen to own one=)
