Getting accustomed to a certain neck

I've been playing my RGT42DXFM for about 6 years. I LOVE this guitar but since I got my Prestige and Jem and have played them almost exclusively, every time I spend more than 30 min on the RGT my index finger joint or thumb start to hurt. I know the radius difference isn't that much with the Wizard II so what gives? Anyone else have this problem?
I'm glad the new Premium I ordered shares the Prestige neck dimensions!

Re: Getting accustomed to a certain neck

Some necks just don't work with a particular players biological geometry.
That said, it you have played only 1 guitar for ages and then start to play something else, I would expect a little cramping as you are using different stabilizer muscles in different ways than you are accustomed.
If you still have the problem after a couple months of playing that guitar, maybe its just a neck that doesn't work for you and its time to move on.

Give it a fair shake though, I own lots of guitars and almost no two necks are the same.

Re: Getting accustomed to a certain neck

The radius doesn't tell you anything, it refers to the curvature of the fretboard, not the back of the neck.

I've never liked the Wizard II, it has very noticeable 'shoulders', that are placed quite wide on the neck, and they're uncomfortable for me too.
