getting an ibanez RG1527... or an RG7321?

hallo there,

i need some advice. i'm currently selling my boss pedal, my roland cube 15, and my wah pedal to buy a brand new stuff for home recording. the only thing i have left is my ibanez rg270 and my line 6 POD 2.0. question,

with all the money i have, plus my 5 month wage, should i,

a) sell my POD, and buy a rockthron piranha tube preamp

or

b) keep my POD, and buy a brand new ibanez rg1527

or

c) keep my POD, and buy an ibanez rg7321 and an [email protected] soundcard

thanks

the RG1527 got a pretty bad review in the harmony central, people mainly have prob with the stock pickups, is it that bad?

Ain't really that bad. I think. I've tried the v7 and v8 they are quite trebly but still ok, I don't bout hte v77 and v88 though, I think they should be the same

I also think you should go for option b. The 1527 is a great guitar, and the pickups aren't too bad. Yes, you'd probably want to change them at some point but they are more than adequate. At least that way you'd have a quality trem-equipped guitar you can build upon, and the 7th string opens up new options too.

Re: getting an ibanez RG1527... or an RG7321?

I just got the 1527 (it took forever to have it shipped to Greece!). The pickups are the only possible flaw on this guitar (I pesonally don't like the harmonics on the 7th string. It's not bright enough for my taste). The neck feels great and the guitar can really roar. So with the minor cost of 70$ (dimarzio tone zone 7) you can change the bridge pickup and have a really KILLER guitar.
Pod is great for recording! KEEP IT!!!!! (I have the pod xt live and LOVE it. I personnaly don't like the rocktron, but it's just me)

yeah, i have 2 7620s and a 7321 with the new7s. both my 7620s have dimarzios, an/tz, an/bc and both kill. the biggest gripe from most 7 owners are the stock pickups...especially with ibanez. so pretty much, you go in knowing that you have got to swap them.

thanks for the feedback guys. at first, i was thinking of get rid of the POD and buy a PODxt, but then i saw this rockthron that comes with a very good review in the HC.

is there any big difference between the PODxt and 2.0?

Re: getting an ibanez RG1527... or an RG7321?

I played a 1527 the other day in a local music store and I was impressed by it, they were asking 849.00 for it too, nice guitar, I like the 5-piece neck too.

I guess I like my 7620s better though for some reason.....

Re: getting an ibanez RG1527... or an RG7321?

there are many people on pod forums that had been using pod 2 and then tried pod xt and hated it and returned it... i dunno... check line 6 forums here. if youre not a solo guitarist id go with rg7321 because it will save your nerves. ive got ax7221 with a fixed bridge and i can change tuning to any other in a minute. and if some string is out of tune it takes only, like 15 seconds to get it right. othewise go with the rg1527

Re: getting an ibanez RG1527... or an RG7321?

i dont know how well the rg1527 holds tunig, but the rg7321 has the same tuners that my guitar has... well, befor playing i check the tuning and if its off i tune it..it doesnt take long. even nstage it wouldnt be a problem.and if the dont satisfy you, you can buy bette locking tuners and they dont cost a fortune

you also have to take into account that the trem will break strings more often.. and that changing tuning will be unpleasant... with my ax i changed tuning from standard or drop a to c# in a minute..

1527 over the 7321 as it is the Japanese one.

If you don't like the pickups, just change them.
