Getting my RGA8 customized.

Hey all, I'm getting my Ibanez RGA8 customized. I left it at a luthier, and I'm getting it refinished and let him put on a new bridge (simply because the fixed Edge 8 bridge popped out of the body like most of them do).

I'll update this thread when new pics arrive from him. Here are the first.

Get him to take all that nasty paint out of the pocket and shim the neck properly too.

The guitar will be completely refinished in satin aged white.

Re: Getting my RGA8 customized.

Maybe it has something to do with the gauge of the screw that is used to pull the bridge down. Maybe it is bigger?

More like the ATX Blackjack. Same aged white finish, only satin.

New colour, better bridge. New pups will come, but in a while, since I've spend all my money on the customization.

Ibanez, you've disappointed me. The site says it's a mahogany guitar.

Clearly NOT mahogany. I'd go for alder. Though it's going to sound a lot better, Ibanez has put up wrong information. But the more the luthier works with the guitar, the more fabrication errors he finds.

Re: Getting my RGA8 customized.

Ok guys, I am doubting my choice of getting it finished satin aged white. I'm thinking of an Emerald Green Burst. Any suggestions on this?

Re: Getting my RGA8 customized.

err... sand through the polyester more, looks like asian mahogany really. It has a slightly pink tone, alder is almost bleach white. It should be fairly light, and "warm" sounding. alder has fairly strong grain lines, im not seeing much on this body. get some more pics!

that said, emerald green = sex in my opinion.

edit:

check this puppy out!

Personally, I've never enjoyed the neons. Get something classy and it'll look good to everyone, including you. I recommend a dark green burst. Or, frankly, just a tobacco burst. Ibby's look surprisingly sexy in tobacco burst.

It might be, it's made in India, so I guess you can be right about that.

And about that guitar... What a horrible colour. I'm thinking of an emeraldburst, or the green shadow flat from the 27 fret Xiphos.
