True, but:

1. The poster isn't oblivious to this like most are who resurrect these. Hence the title on their post.

2. They provided some useful information instead of just bringing a 10 year old thread back to bless us with such wisdom as "those are cool".

Ideally, you want one thread per topic. So someone wanted to post about the MIII and they bumped the MIII thread. No harm fowl, IMO.

Re: Gibson MIII - Anyone played one?

ultimate necro thread?

but Redtiger is right, no harm. Better than a new one, right?

Muttz has given me an insight into these guitars, there nice, but i'd still rather a buckethead les paul.....................................drool.

Re: Gibson MIII - Anyone played one?

Ordinarily I would condemn someone who zombies an old ass thread but since muttz brought forth pics and info, it is ok.

Now, I don't like any Gibson's but they bury their failures deeper than Ibanez ever does. Do you see anyone ask for a Gibson Corvus?

All it will take is the right guy in the right band to write the right song with one and everyone will be looking for one.

Also, we can't tell users to reference old threads (as opposed to starting new ones) and then rip them for asking new questions or adding info. Why keep old posts if not to refer and add to them?

Yes. How soon we forget history. Did anyone in the 80's care about Fender Mustangs and Jazzmasters? These things were the red-headed step children of the Fender line. The Mustang was a beginner's guitar and the Jazzmaster was intended for Jazz. Pawn shops in the 80s were full of these. Post 1991, thanks to Kurt Cobain, pawn shops were full of pointy metal guitars.

Ah, the days of mint $600 777DYs sitting behind the counter than no one wanted to buy! Those were always so tempting when I was a youngster. If I only had a time machine.

It's also relevant because the design has returned as part of the Ephiphone Prohecy line, as the EM-2:

LOL - ya, and it's reminded me that nearly ten years later, I STILL want one of these...

"$800 or so"?!? No wonder I never found one!
