Going Nuts here, need some input

I wanted to buy a Jem VSBL and now someone offered me a 05 MM Petrucci, and from the Specs it seems to be a far superior guitar in regards to the features. (Piezos, Bridge, Neck)

I already have 2 Jems and have never touched a MM. Who has one and can "compare" for me?

Thanks

Re: Going Nuts here, need some input

You gotta play it yourself.
I love the feel and playability of MMs (prefer Luke and Morse models to JP) but there's something about the shape - it just looks wrong to me.
That's why I'd never own a MM guitar.

If you can look beyond aesthetics get the MM, they hold their value well so if you can't get to grips with it you can always sell it and go for that blue 7V.

I agree. I like the playability of MM's better than JEM's, but I HATE the look of them. And no locking tremolo either...

I though the no locking trem is an advantage. Its floating and supposed to be rock solid. Not sure if that is so.

I am also not a big fan of the looks but the petrucci has a different body shape.

The VSBL is really the only Jem I want.

Indeed. Why compromise on what you really want?

Re: Going Nuts here, need some input

If you can play them both, that's what I'd do. If not, just get the Jem. The Petrucci is a great guitar, but the feel of the neck is different from a Jem feel. Not worse, just different. The piezos are great if you'll use them, if you won't there's absolutely no point in them. The Petrucci isn't a "far superior guitar" to the VSBL. I think you'd be happy owning either, but if you really want the VSBL you should play the Petrucci before letting the spec sheet make your decision for you.

Re: Going Nuts here, need some input

Depends really what you are looking for in a guitar. Do you want the piezo? Thin neck? etc..

Regards

André

Congrats!

I really would like a VSBL, but I just can't justify the cost.
