It sounds excellent! I had a TZ in a mahogony neckthrough and it just sounded dull and gritty compared to the swamp ash (there is a difference, so called "swamp ash" is more porous and allegedly has a more even frequency response) which sounds smooth across all the frequencies. Although I do have to point out that I did have a maple top put on it to brighten it up further.
basically the guitar really sings, the low end isn't muddy and is cristal clear, and the top end soars, and there's no real drop out in between.
I'd say go for it, and also I think the thicker body may have had some effect as well, it's not a light guitar, but it came out waaaaay better than i anticipated!
So yeah, the Tone Zone in ash sounds cool, although I keep thinking of putting in a steve's special for some reason to see what it does!
Air Norton wise, well, I haven't used the neck pup too much to be honest, but it is still cool. I've just never really found that rich thick sound that's quite EMG like in a passive yet, which is what I am looking for for a neck pup. Still, it's cool, and with the volume rolled down will give excellent definition even through a high gain amp, so I'd definately recommend this pairing as well, but to be honest I'd really want to play around with a few different ones before I'd say for definate as one pickup tried does not a valid opinion make
