The great 'Whammy' debate......

So, was just having a look at my Jem70V and thought, this would look really cool white a white whammy bar.....hmmmm

Why are all whammy bars black?.... I think white with a white/pearl pickguard would look cool.....

thoughts?

Re: The great 'Whammy' debate......

Thats weird, on saturday i had the very same thought pop into my head, a white whammy bar would look cool, my only adversion to it though is that my black ones look really grubby now, from my sweaty hands being all over them(i swear im like the alien creature only its not my blood thats acid its my sweat) so i can imagine that a white one would look a right mess after a few months. although i am thinking of ordering a spare one and getting it powder coated white just for the s***s and giggles.

I thought about an entire bridge itself being powder coated bright white, but it would no doubt get very dirty very fast.

I've been thinking about powder coating a set of hardware white for a project I've got going.
The Ibanez bars are painted black.
Powder coating is much more durable than paint.

I think the whammy bar looks best when it matches the hardware color of the tremolo bridge and such.

I relatively new to "ibanez" and have basically owned ESPs, or Jacksons, so I'm used to orginal floyd roses.

I'm still getting used to the silver/powder black on the tremolo on the Ibanez and BLACK whammy's bars

Re: The great 'Whammy' debate......

How about tremolo plating that doesn't decay off via sweat after two years of owning said gear(bought new). Also making the tremolo out of non pot metal would be good too.

Yes being able to match a guitar's finish with the hardware for a tremolo would be great as well.

Re: The great 'Whammy' debate......

If I'm not mistaken the chrome (and gold) is electroplate. It tends to flake off and get nasty IMO. I like black better. It doesn't corrode as easy as long as you wipe off the trem after use.
That said if you can powdercoat in black I don't see why you couldn't powdercoat in another color. It would likely cost more though.
